Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; And confirm for us the work of our hands; Yes, confirm the work of our hands.

A Jacie Project-

Hey bloggers! This is Jacie. (See http://theworksofourhands.blogspot.com/2011/04/introducing-jacie.html) So I've been busy with making clay "INTO THE WOODS" people for the cast of my mom's show. I know opening night will be amazing. The clay I use is Sculpy. Right now I have most of them but not quite finished yet. We have the Bakers Wife, the Witch, Jack, Jack's Mother, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella,The Princes, the Stepsisters, and Rapunzel. I'm making these becaue I want to show my skills. I'm not perfect at it but I enjoy it. Here's where I am:

I'm in an "I Don't Care" Mood-

I need to be working on "Into the Woods". The deadline for major pieces is (my own imposed) Thursday. So why am I here instead? Because I quit sewing mid-afternoon and began reading a book I have to return to the library. It's about scandals that have occurred in the British monarchy since the time of the Tudors. And now I'm disappointed in myself for wasting the afternoon. (I am proud, however, that I remembered to stop reading and feed the children...) Rachael over at Stitched in Color recently had a post where she said what she felt about some things and so did her commenters. It was a great post! I don't like tippy-toeing and I will never be cruel or rude intentionally but I do try to avoid hurting people's feelings so I guess I hold back stuff I'm thinking or I don't say/write anything at all. Maybe I'll make Mondays my gripe day and my posts will be about things that annoy me. I think I'll try it but I'll limit myself to three gripes:

1. William & Kate. I honestly have to admit that I don't care about the wedding. I just want to see the dress so I can de-construct it in my head.

2. I hate designer labels. I don't care if they're on clothing, shoes, handbags or a piece of fabric. I think it's 'The Emperor's New Clothes' right out of the book.

3. I know I'll not be listing three gripes every Monday. The only thing consistent about me is my inconsistencies. I won't remember.

Anyway... wanna see my Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood?

(Wolf is my costume and design; I have a makeup helper this time around!)

FNSI and a reunion!

When I started 'playing' with Friday Night Sew Ins last January it sounded like as easy thing. One Friday, lock myself away, and sew, sew, sew. Oy vey! When did I get so busy! Not only is this month's FNSI smack in the middle of sewing for 'Into the Woods', a bunch of us from my former theatre group (The Encore Players) decided it was time for a reunion. No problem! I didn't get to do any 'for me' sewing; I devoted the time to costumes and finished up Jack's jacket and the witch's cape. Then B & I dropped Phil and Jacie off at a birthday party and had a nice dinner at the mall. B helped me look for the proper socks for a few characters (didn't find any)and when we got home I got everything together for costume stuff Saturday morning and reunion stuff Sat. afternoon. It was a busy, lovely day and I so enjoyed catching up with old friends. Now, where to find fun, over the knee socks for my wolf and Jack?

Introducing Jacie!

Jacie is my 12 year old daughter. She's a tomboy through and through! She has her daddy's beautiful brown eyes and my big ol' teeth in the most adorable smile. Jacie would like to start a blog of her own (and I would like her to write more!) but the powers that be have age restrictions. So, from time to time, I am going to allow Jacie to "take over" for a post. She'll share her crafts and glory knows what else. I know she plans to take part in this week's Friday Night Sew In so she'll be here to share her evening's accomplishments soon!

FNSI April 18!

Have I showed you Kal-El, lately? ;) Fifteen months old!

Still merrily tripping through the 'Woods'. I'm not really surprised that I'm remaking a lot more than I originally thought I would but it's looking good! I guess I know what this month's Friday Night Sew In will be dedicated to! Or maybe I'll take the night off from costuming to stitch up a couple of Bottled Rainbow blocks? We shall see...

Got some fabrics and laces listed in the Etsy shop if you're on the hunt. Hope to list more soon but I have two fashionable princes waiting for me in the cave-

One show down-

"Leaving Iowa" is officially over; except for the laundering and storage, and "Into the Wodds" is in full production mode. Actually, we'll be taking some publicity photos tomorrow so I have had to get selected characters done up quickly. I thought I was in very good shape since I had done the show and was planning on re-using a lot of my stock but, of course, I'm going to be remaking quite a bit. Cinderella, Jack, Jack's mother, two princes, Cinderella's father, the mysterious man--- all new. Everyone else has either new pieces or a refurbishment. I have to go hunting some shoes today for the Baker, Jack and Little Red but I found a cool skirt and blouse for Jack's mom at a thrift yesterday---score! Saves me some sewing time! I'm having a ball but I made the mistake of buying two new quilting magazines to read while waiting in the dressing room of 'Iowa' (I had lots of time between being needed for costume changes and I can only watch the show so many times!). I found at least two new projects I want to get into and my beloved Bottled Rainbows are still calling to me--there's just not enough time in the day! ITW's amazing director pulled in some help for me for wigs and make up; I feel very blessed to have extra hands for this!
